Happy Confident achievers

Year 2 Term 6 2019

Bounce

In term 6 we will be focusing on all things sporty!

We will be trying out lots of different types of sporting activities to develop our basic movements of running, jumping, throwing and catching, as well as developing our balance, agility and co-ordination.

We will carry out research about various sports using a range of resources, look at non-fiction books and their layouts and create our own information books based on what we find out.

We will continue to develop our story writing skills by looking at the text of ‘The Frog Prince’ and will write our own sporting rhymes and chants.

Finally we will use everything we learn in Term 6 to organise a special afternoon of sporting activities for our grown ups to enjoy!

During our impact afternoon we followed a recipe to create bouncy bubbles. By mixing sugar, water and washing up liquid we make a bubble mixture that when blown the bubbles would bounce on a woolly glove. Ask us why the bubbles bounced when we added sugar. Then in PE we practised our bouncy skills with different physical activities.

Class 9 loved spending time in Reception on Friday afternoon. We were mini teachers and enjoyed supported the younger children with their learning and language skills. We learnt to be patient with their games and tried to be positive role models for the classes.

Class 11 had lots of fun at the Cyclopark practising their cycling skills.  Have a look at the pictures to see what we got up to!

What a lovely afternoon we had at the Cyclopark! Year 2 enjoyed watching the Women's OVO Tour and we cheered all the cyclists as they whizzed past. Keep practising to ride your bike and one day you might be racing round a track too!

Thank you to all the adults who came along to our Father's Day event. The children enjoyed designing and creating ways to stop a tomato from splatting when it hits the floor from a height. The children created padded baskets, springy attachments and parachutes to protect their tomato. Great ideas!
